Day 2 started with a very humorous and inspiring speech by George Couros. He touched upon many very critical topics, but what really stood out to me was his advocacy of the innovators mindset. He believes that students must be given the background knowledge, but also the freedom on how to use technology both inside and outside the classroom. I also agreed with his position on freedom when it comes to students on social media.
Day 1 of the CUE conference has been a whirlwind of great information and ideas. Between all of the advice I have gotten from colleagues as well as the "CUE first timer meeting" I felt like I have taken full advantage so far. Compared to other conferences, CUE has a nice balance of sitting and walking, due to the distance between conference venues. (over 20,000 steps!) All sessions today have been informative, but the one that has stuck with me most has been the session of iMovie/Kyte for broadcasting student news programs. My mind is swirling with new ideas to apply to CNN (Clearwater News Network). Stay tuned for day 2...
